Our organizer team at Triangle Zouk is doing our best to keep our community safe during the global COVID pandemic. Social dancing is a high-contact activity, and while we are taking steps to minimize the risk our dancers are exposed to, the risk of exposure from such an intimate activity is something each of us should consider before attending one of our events. The decision on how to balance mental health and social needs with measures to reduce exposure is a personal one, and is deeply connected to the structure of our own lives, communities, and tolerance to risk. We hope that you continue to stay engaged and mindful with your own needs and risk tolerance and make the best decisions for you and for our community.

In order to reduce the risk of COVID exposure in our events, our team is taking the following steps:

  1. Our events will follow guidance offered by the CDC, NC DHHS, and Durham County.

  2. Dancers showing any symptoms and dancers with known recent exposure to a COVID patient should not attend our events. We will offer a full refund for those canceling due to COVID exposure, symptoms, or a positive COVID test.

  3. We ask that dancers consider taking a COVID test before attending our events if they have recently engaged in high-risk activity, such as international travel or other high-exposure activities.

  4. Masks are optional at our events. We reserve the right to change this policy as we continue to monitor updated CDC and state guidance as well as case numbers.

  5. Please be mindful, use hand sanitizer or wash your hands frequently, and avoid touching your mask, face or nose.

  6. Our safer spaces events will include COVID-related safety reminders for the duration of the pandemic.

  7. If you test positive for COVID within ten days or less after one of our events, or if you suspect you might have already been infected during an event, let us know ASAP so we could inform other dancers of their potential exposure, while also maintaining your confidentiality.

  8. In the occurrence of possible COVID exposure in one of our events, Triangle Zouk will inform all participants of their possible exposure while keeping the name of the COVID patient confidential, so our community can make informed decisions on how to move forward.

  9. Our team will continue to monitor the number of cases and hospitalizations to make the best decisions regarding our safety in real time.

  10. If you have any concerns about COVID safety at our events, please make sure to contact one of our organizers. Our team appreciates feedback and always wants to hear from you.

By attending our events, participants agree to respect these COVID protection rules, and honor this agreement between our community members. Triangle Zouk reserves the right to ban any participant from our events without refund if one of these guidelines is broken, or if we observe other types of behavior that put our community at risk.

Please understand we are doing our best to open up dance events to our community in a responsible manner that mitigate COVID risk as much as possible. We recognize these rules are not perfect, but they represent our best thinking for balancing our love of dance and our safety in these trying times.
